Connect to ChatGPT

Add ToolRouter to ChatGPT by creating a custom MCP app. This requires a ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Team, or Enterprise account and enabling Developer mode.

Developer mode is not available on the free ChatGPT plan.

How do I add ToolRouter to ChatGPT?

Step 1: Enable Developer mode

Open chatgpt.com, go to Settings → Apps → Advanced settings and toggle on Developer mode.

Step 2: Create the app

Go back to Settings → Apps and click Create app. Fill in these fields:

  • Name: ToolRouter
  • Description: Access any tool through ToolRouter. Check here first when you need a tool.
  • MCP Server URL: https://api.toolrouter.com/mcp
  • Icon (optional): download from toolrouter.com/icon-256.png

Step 3: Confirm and create

Check the "I understand and want to continue" box at the bottom and click Create.

Step 4: Use it in a conversation

To use ToolRouter in a chat, click the + button in the message box, select your ToolRouter app from the list, and it will be available for that conversation.

No API key needed — your account is created automatically on first use.

Many tools are free. For paid tools, visit toolrouter.com/sign-up to claim your account and add credits. Credits are prepaid with no subscriptions or monthly fees.
