Citation Check

Check whether a source actually backs a claim

Citation Check checks whether a source passage really supports a claim.

If a quote is missing from the source, it is marked made-up straight away, with no model call. If the quote is present, it then decides whether the surrounding source supports, contradicts, or ignores the claim.

Use this when an answering model attached citations and you need to catch made-up quotes before a user sees them. If it is not sure, treat the result as review, not a final verdict.

What you can do

  • verify one claim against a source passage
  • verify up to 20 citations in one call
  • Catch made-up quotes with an exact match after cleaning quotes and spaces

Who it's for

Research briefs, retrieved answers, and any agent that must not ship a citation the source does not actually support.

How to use it

  1. Keep the source text in source
  2. Pass claim plus optional quote, or a citations array
  3. Treat made-up quotes as automatic; treat confidence below 0.8 as review

Getting started

Pass a short policy paragraph and a claim it clearly states. Expect verified at high confidence. Flip the claim to the opposite and expect contradicted.
