US Inflation Data gives you the official US consumer price index month by month, straight from the government's monthly release. Ask "what is US inflation right now?" or "how have prices moved since 2022?" and get the published figures rather than a news summary.
It returns the all-items consumer price index for urban consumers, the headline measure behind the monthly inflation number, plus any other price series you name, such as core prices (excluding food and energy), gasoline or shelter. The yearly inflation rate is the change in the index from the same month a year earlier.
What you can do
- bls_series โ monthly index values for one or more price series, newest first
Who it's for
Finance teams adjusting contracts and budgets for inflation, landlords and HR teams indexing rents and pay, and analysts or journalists tracking the cost of living.
How to use it
- Call bls_series with series_ids "CUUR0000SA0" for headline consumer prices
- Add "CUUR0000SA0L1E" for core prices, comma-separated, to compare the two
- Cover at least 13 months (set start_year) so you can work out the 12-month change for the latest month
