Local Rank Tracker

See where a business ranks across the map

1 free skill. Paid skills show the price before running, and failed paid calls do not charge.

Local Rank Tracker measures how an explicitly selected business appears in live Google Maps results from one place or across a bounded geographic grid. It gives local SEO agencies and multi-location operators reproducible rank evidence instead of a single city-wide guess.

Every observation carries its coordinates or named location, capture time, matched listing identity, and result-check URL when available. Missing listings stay missing; the tool never invents a rank or assumes that a similarly named business is the target.

What you can do

  • resolve_listing β€” return candidate listings without silently choosing an ambiguous business
  • check_local_rank β€” measure one keyword and named location
  • scan_rank_grid β€” scan a safe 3Γ—3 or 5Γ—5 grid with per-pin and summary metrics
  • local_competitors β€” inspect the businesses occupying the leading Maps positions
  • compare_scans β€” compare caller-supplied snapshots without requiring stored history

Who it's for

Local SEO agencies, franchise teams, and business operators who need auditable rank checks, competitor evidence, and client-ready grid summaries.

How to use it

  1. Resolve the intended listing and select its place ID, exact title, or domain
  2. Check one keyword/location before spending on a grid
  3. Run a 3Γ—3 grid, moving to 5Γ—5 only when the added coverage is useful
  4. Compare equivalent snapshots captured with the same keyword and settings

Getting started

Connect your search-data account, call resolve_listing, and keep the returned listing identifier explicit in every scan. Results are non-personalized provider observations and may differ from an individual user's Maps experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the Google Maps rank grid avoid matching the wrong business?

Start with `resolve_listing`, then pass an exact place ID, domain, or full title into the rank check. Ambiguous or missing listings stay unresolved instead of being silently matched by a partial name.

What is the difference between a local rank check and a grid scan?

`check_local_rank` measures one keyword from one named location. `scan_rank_grid` repeats an equivalent live Maps query across a bounded 3Γ—3 or 5Γ—5 coordinate grid and preserves the rank or missing state for every pin.

Are the reported positions guaranteed to match every Google Maps user?

No. They are timestamped, non-personalized provider observations for the selected coordinates, language, and search settings; individual users can see different results.

How much can one local rank grid cost?

The skill declares a maximum cost before execution and a 5Γ—5 grid is capped at 25 live observations. Actual DataForSEO task cost is retained when the provider returns it.
