GitHub Data looks up any public GitHub profile or repository and shows what's trending right now. Get a developer's stats, repositories, pull requests, contribution graph and network, or a repository's stars, forks, topics and license.
It turns GitHub into structured data you can compare and reason about: vet a developer before hiring or partnering, size up an open-source project before adopting it, or spot the repositories and developers gaining momentum this week.
What you can do
- Read a developer's profile, follower counts and public repositories
- List a user's recent pull requests and monthly activity
- Chart a user's contributions across a year
- Map who a user follows and who follows them
- Get stars, forks, open issues, topics and license for any repository
- See today's, this week's or this month's trending repositories and developers
Who it's for
Recruiters and engineering managers vetting candidates, developer-relations and marketing teams tracking open-source communities, investors scouting projects, and anyone choosing between libraries.
How to use it
- Start with get_user for a username, then get_user_repositories for their projects
- Use get_user_pull_requests, get_user_activity and get_user_contributions to see how active they are
- Use get_user_followers and get_user_following to map their network
- Pass a repository URL to get_repository for its details
- Use get_trending_repositories and get_trending_developers to find what's rising, filtered by language
List results include next_cursor; pass it back as cursor for the next page.
