SerpApi pricing lists Developer at $75/month for 5,000 searches (checked 13 September 2026). Only successful searches count; cached and failed searches do not. Unused searches do not roll over. Throughput on Developer is 1,000 successful searches per hour. That is a monthly API allowance.
ToolRouter Web Search search is a paid skill. Default route is Serper (Google results). You can set provider to serper, brave, exa, serpapi, or tavily. Paid calls bill at max($0.005, provider cost) on success; failed paid calls do not charge (Billing). The configured Serper rate in ToolRouter is $0.001 per credit, so a default search may be subject to the $0.005 minimum. Confirm the actual charge for your selected route; different providers and result types can cost more.
For very low volume, first consider SerpApi’s free plan with 250 searches per month. Its Starter plan lists $25/month for 1,000 searches. Developer is not the lowest entry price. ToolRouter’s benefit is calling search from the same agent connection as other tools; it is not always the cheapest option.

Do the arithmetic before cancelling a SerpApi plan. Fifteen thousand searches a month is Production on SerpApi ($150, 15,000 searches). A handful of lookups a day is the case for a metered call. ToolRouter can also route provider: serpapi if that key is configured; that is still not the same as buying Developer for a dedicated integration.
SerpApi's own FAQ: empty result sets still count as a successful search; pagination is a separate search.
