For occasional keyword research, compare a metered tool call with Ahrefs’ full SEO subscription and its lower-cost Starter option. Ahrefs pricing is localized by currency and billing term; check the price displayed for your region. Lite includes Keywords Explorer, Site Explorer, Rank Tracker, and Site Audit, with 5 unverified projects, 750 tracked keywords, 100,000 crawl credits, and 6 months of historical data. That is a monthly SEO seat.
ToolRouter Keyword Research is a different product: paid skills (find_keywords, analyze_keyword, and related clustering/scoring/SERP observations) that run from an assistant. It is not Ahrefs' backlink index.

Semrush is another suite to compare when you need ongoing research and monitoring. Compare included features and billing terms, not a suite subscription against a single lookup.
What this does not replace
Ahrefs still owns Site Explorer, a backlink graph, crawl credits, and a rank tracker with history. If you already pay for Lite or Standard and use those tools every week, keep the seat. For infrequent research, compare your expected call charges with the smallest plan that actually covers the task. Ahrefs also offers Starter and free tools; Lite is not its only entry point.
A language model can produce plausible keyword numbers without a measurement source. Require the returned source and date, and distinguish estimates from live data. See How to do keyword research in ChatGPT.

Prerequisite and limit
You need an assistant with ToolRouter connected (Connect Claude, Connect ChatGPT, or Connect). analyze_keyword is paid. Live monthly volume is a separate connection; if it is missing, the skill still returns modeled fields labelled as estimates. Ranking skills observe current SERPs; they do not invent historical rank change.
