ChatGPT reads Slack channel history and delivers a clean catch-up brief — what happened, in what order, and what requires your attention. Structured for a quick read rather than a wall of message summaries.

Connect ToolRouter to ChatGPT

Steps

Once connected (see setup above), use the Slack tool:

  1. Ask: "Read #[channel] and give me a catch-up summary"
  2. ChatGPT retrieves and summarises the recent messages
  3. Ask: "Is there anything that needs my response or decision?"
  4. Act on the summary without reading every message

Example Prompt

Try this with ChatGPT using the Slack tool
Read the last 100 messages in #product-feedback and give me a structured summary of the main themes, key quotes, and anything that needs a team response.

Tips

  • Ask ChatGPT to group messages by topic rather than summarising chronologically
  • Request a "needs action" section to surface anything that requires your input
  • Ask for the tone of a channel — is it urgent, routine, or celebratory — to calibrate your level of engagement
