ChatGPT searches Slack and presents results in an organised format — grouped by channel, sorted by relevance, and summarised for quick review. Useful when you need to catch up on a topic and want the highlights rather than every individual message.

Connect ToolRouter to ChatGPT

1Go to Settings → Apps → Advanced settings and enable Developer mode
2Click Create app and enter these details

Steps

Once connected (see setup above), use the Slack tool:

  1. Ask: "Search Slack for messages about [topic]"
  2. ChatGPT returns the relevant messages with channel and date context
  3. Ask: "Summarise what was discussed across these results"
  4. Use the summary to catch up on context quickly

Example Prompt

Try this with ChatGPT using the Slack tool
Search Slack for all messages mentioning "onboarding process" from the last month and give me a summary of the key points discussed.

Tips

  • Include channel names in your search if you know roughly where the conversation happened
  • Ask ChatGPT to pull out any action items or commitments from the search results
  • Use date ranges to narrow search to the period when a specific project was active
