Steps

Once connected (see setup above), use the Slack tool:

  1. Ask: "Find [name] in our Slack workspace"
  2. ChatGPT returns the user profile with their handle and status
  3. Ask: "List all users in the workspace" for a full directory view
  4. Use the returned details to send messages or manage channels

Example Prompt

Try this with ChatGPT using the Slack tool
Find all users in my Slack workspace with "engineer" in their title and list their names and Slack handles.

Tips

  • Ask ChatGPT to format user results as a contact directory if you need to share them
  • List all workspace users to find the right person when you only know their role, not their name
  • Ask whether a user is active or deactivated before sending a message to an old account
