OpenClaw monitors Slack channels automatically — produce a daily digest of key channels, surface action items from weekly discussions, and maintain a running summary of workspace activity without anyone needing to manually catch up.

Connect ToolRouter to OpenClaw

1Install the CLI
npm install -g toolrouter-mcp
2Call tools directly from OpenClaw
toolrouter-mcp call web-search search --query "AI tools"
toolrouter-mcp tools

Steps

Once connected (see setup above), use the Slack tool:

  1. Define monitoring scope: "Read #leadership, #product, and #engineering daily"
  2. OpenClaw reads recent messages from all specified channels
  3. Ask: "Produce a cross-channel summary of the most important discussions"
  4. Deliver the digest to a summary channel or shared document

Example Prompt

Try this with OpenClaw using the Slack tool
Read the last 24 hours of messages from #leadership, #product, and #engineering. Produce a morning briefing with key decisions, open items, and anything that needs cross-team coordination.

Tips

  • Schedule a daily Slack digest to run every morning before the team starts work
  • Route the digest to a dedicated #digest channel so everyone can catch up from one place
  • Ask OpenClaw to flag any messages that mention deadlines or blockers specifically
