Record Collector

Explore the full output of a record label, review individual releases, and check collector values across the catalog. Use `label_catalog`, `release_details`, and `price_guide` to map the label's output. Claude is particularly strong when you want interpretive commentary: which catalog numbers are the sleepers, where the value concentrates, and how the label's output evolved over time.

Steps

Once connected (see setup above), use the Record Collector tool:

  1. Name the label and set any scope filters: format, year range, country, or catalog number range.
  2. Use `record-collector` to run `label_catalog` for the full output, then `release_details` and `price_guide` on the releases that catch your interest.
  3. Ask Claude to highlight the catalog's most notable releases: the collector favorites, the underrated titles, and anything with unusual market value.
  4. Use the annotated catalog as a reference for building your want list or planning purchases from the label.

Example Prompt

Try this with Claude using the Record Collector tool
Use record-collector to browse the full Stax Records catalog. Run label_catalog to see every release, then use release_details and price_guide on the original pressings from the 1960s and 1970s. Tell me which titles are most valuable, which are underrated sleepers, and which are easy to find cheaply.

Tips

  • Filter by year range or catalog number series to focus on the era of the label that interests you most.
  • Ask Claude to explain the label's history alongside the catalog data so you can connect releases to their cultural context.
  • Use the catalog as a living document: revisit as you acquire titles and track your progress.
