Public Holidays

Claude prevents holiday deployment disasters by checking proposed dates against every country where you have engineering or support staff. It asks about your on-call rotation and customer distribution to assess actual risk, suggest alternative dates, and flag buffer days around holidays when teams typically run at reduced capacity.

Steps

Once connected (see setup above), use the Public Holidays tool:

  1. Ask Claude: "Is 2026-07-04 a holiday in the US? Check using public-holidays"
  2. Claude confirms whether the date is a holiday
  3. Ask: "Get all US holidays for Q3 2026 so I can plan release windows"
  4. Use the results to set safe deployment dates

Example Prompt

Try this with Claude using the Public Holidays tool
I want to deploy on July 3, 2026. Check if that date or the surrounding days are holidays in the US, UK, or Germany. Our team is distributed across all three.

Tips

  • Check the day before and after your target date too -- teams are often short-staffed around holidays
  • Build a quarterly release calendar with holiday conflicts highlighted
  • Automate this check as part of your release approval workflow
