Night Sky

Claude takes upcoming celestial event data and builds complete viewing plans — identifying where you need to be to see totality, what equipment to use for different event types, what time to arrive, and what other nearby sky objects will be interesting on the same night. It turns a calendar date into a full astronomy experience.

Steps

Once connected (see setup above), use the Night Sky tool:

  1. Ask: "What celestial events are coming up in the next six months using night-sky?"
  2. Claude returns a calendar of events with dates and visibility details
  3. Ask: "Which of these will be visible from the UK?"
  4. Request: "What do I need to prepare to watch the next solar eclipse safely?"

Example Prompt

Try this with Claude using the Night Sky tool
What significant celestial events are coming up in the next 12 months? For each one visible from the UK, tell me the date, what to expect, and how to prepare to see it at its best.

Tips

  • Ask about eclipse path of totality versus partial visibility zones to plan your viewing location
  • Request meteor shower peak nights along with moon phase — a full moon can ruin a shower
  • Ask Claude to set a 2-week reminder for each major event in the list
