Steps

Once connected (see setup above), use the Night Sky tool:

  1. Ask: "Get upcoming celestial events and eclipse forecast using night-sky"
  2. ChatGPT returns a list of events with dates and details
  3. Request: "Write a monthly astronomy highlights newsletter in plain English"
  4. Follow up: "Which events this year would be worth travelling to see?"

Example Prompt

Try this with ChatGPT using the Night Sky tool
List all significant celestial events in the next year. Identify the top three worth travelling for, explain what makes each special, and suggest the best viewing locations.

Tips

  • Ask for a simple monthly calendar format for easy sharing or publishing
  • Request travel suggestions for eclipse paths of totality well in advance — hotels sell out quickly
  • Ask ChatGPT to rank events by rarity to prioritise which ones deserve the most effort
