Steps
Once connected (see setup above), use the Excel Tools tool:
- Describe your calculation needs: "I need a spreadsheet that calculates VAT at 20%"
- ChatGPT creates the file with pre-built formulas
- Request additions: "Add a discount column that reduces the subtotal"
- Download and verify the formulas are working correctly

Try this with ChatGPT using the Excel Tools tool
Create an invoice tracker spreadsheet with columns for item, quantity, unit price, subtotal (quantity × price), VAT at 20%, and total. Pre-fill 5 sample rows.
Tips
- Specify the formula outcome you want, not the Excel syntax — ChatGPT handles the syntax
- Ask for a legend or note cell explaining the formula logic for anyone who will edit the file later
- Request that formula cells be highlighted differently from data entry cells
