ChatGPT is a strong fit when the architectural render needs a design statement or planning rationale alongside it. Generate the visual and write the supporting text in one session.

Steps

Once connected (see setup above), use the Sketch to Render tool:

  1. Provide the architectural sketch and the planning or pitch context.
  2. Run `render` via sketch-to-render to generate the building render.
  3. Ask ChatGPT to write a design statement appropriate for a planning pre-application or investor pitch.
  4. Package the render and statement as a single document.

Example Prompt

Try this with ChatGPT using the Sketch to Render tool
Use sketch-to-render to render this mixed-use building concept sketch — ground floor retail, four floors of apartments — in a contemporary urban style with red brick and steel. Return the render and write a 150-word design statement I can include in a planning pre-application.

Tips

  • A design statement for planning should reference local character, materials, and proportions — ask ChatGPT to include these.
  • Keep the render described as a 'design intent' image in planning documents to avoid being held to it precisely.
  • An investor pitch version of the same render can use more aspirational language in the supporting copy.
