Steps
Once connected (see setup above), use the Satellite Imagery tool:
- Give Claude the site address or coordinates and the intended use of the image.
- Ask Claude to run `capture_dated` or `earth_photo` via the satellite-imagery tool.
- Have Claude describe the site context visible in the image — surrounding land use, access points, site boundaries.
- Use the image and description as the site context section of your report.
Example Prompt
Try this with Claude using the Satellite Imagery tool
Use satellite-imagery to capture a current satellite image of this site at the coordinates 51.5, -0.1 for inclusion in a planning application. Describe the site context visible in the image — surrounding land use, road access, and neighbouring structures.
Tips
- Ask Claude to describe what is visible in the image so you have a written site context description alongside the visual.
- Note the capture date in any planning document so the image is clearly identified as current or historical.
- A satellite image with a written context description covers the site context requirement in most planning application formats.
