Use ChatGPT and ToolRouter to map an artist's discography with release details and market values.

Record Collector

Map every release from an artist, review edition details, and check collector values across their full catalog. Use `artist_discography`, `release_details`, and `price_guide` to build the complete picture. ChatGPT is a good fit when you want the discography presented as a clean, readable guide with value highlights and a ready-made want list.

Steps

Once connected (see setup above), use the Record Collector tool:

  1. Specify the artist and any scope preferences: format, country, year range, and whether to include compilations.
  2. Use `record-collector` to run `artist_discography`, then drill into notable releases with `release_details` and `price_guide`.
  3. Have ChatGPT format the results as a discography guide with columns for title, year, label, format, edition notes, and estimated value.
  4. Use the formatted guide as a reference for crate digging, online shopping, or collection planning.

Example Prompt

Try this with ChatGPT using the Record Collector tool
Use record-collector to explore Alice Coltrane's full discography. Run artist_discography, then release_details and price_guide on the original Impulse! pressings. Format the output as a collector's guide with title, year, label, and value range for each release.

Tips

  • Ask ChatGPT to sort the discography by collector value so the most important releases are at the top.
  • Request a separate want list section with only the titles you do not already own.
