ChatGPT turns wave forecast data into clear session plans and readable condition summaries. It is particularly good at explaining forecast terminology for less experienced surfers, comparing multiple surf spots in a region, and producing shareable session plans for groups.

Once connected (see setup above), use the Ocean & Tides tool:

  1. Ask: "Get a wave forecast for the north Devon coast for the next three days using ocean-data"
  2. ChatGPT returns a multi-day forecast
  3. Request: "Which day is best and what should I bring?"
  4. Follow up: "Compare these conditions to Croyde and Saunton beaches"

Example Prompt

Try this with ChatGPT using the Ocean & Tides tool
Get a 3-day wave forecast for Croyde Bay, Devon. Rate each day from 1-5 for surfing conditions, explain the rating, and recommend a go/no-go for an intermediate surfer.

Tips

  • Ask for a plain-English day rating (pumping / solid / fun / weak / flat) for quick scanning
  • Request a comparison of morning vs afternoon conditions if wind patterns shift through the day
  • Ask ChatGPT to note the best tide state for your specific break
