ChatGPT makes year-end accounts feel manageable by guiding you step by step and presenting the output as a clean, structured report. Once documents are uploaded and transactions classified, it generates a formatted accounts summary that is easy to hand to an accountant or use directly for a tax return.

Example Prompt

Try this with ChatGPT using the Accounts Preparer tool
Prepare my year-end accounts for the tax year April 2023 to March 2024. I am a sole trader. Here are my bank statements and invoices — classify everything and produce a profit and loss summary.

Tips

  • Ask for a category breakdown before the final accounts to review the classification logic
  • ChatGPT can format the output as a clean table suitable for handing to an accountant
  • Run the same process quarterly to avoid a year-end backlog
