Steps

Once connected (see setup above), use the Product Recalls tool:

  1. Ask: "Are there any current FDA recalls for [product or ingredient]?"
  2. ChatGPT returns recall information with plain-language hazard explanation
  3. Ask: "What should I do if I have this product in my home or business?"

Example Prompt

Try this with ChatGPT using the Product Recalls tool
Check for any current FDA food recalls involving peanut butter or peanut products. What products are affected, what is the safety concern, and what should people do if they have these products?

Tips

  • Ask ChatGPT to explain the health risk in plain language rather than just the regulatory recall reason
  • Request the recommended consumer action — it varies between "do not eat, discard" and "return for refund"
  • Ask whether a recall is ongoing or already closed — some recalls are resolved quickly
