Steps

Once connected (see setup above), use the Grants Finder tool:

  1. Describe the type of funding you are looking for: sector, geography, applicant type, and approximate budget.
  2. Use `grants-finder` with `search_opportunities` to find relevant programs across sources.
  3. Run `opportunity_details` on the top candidates to pull full eligibility, funding, and deadline information.
  4. Ask Claude to compare the programs side by side and recommend which ones deserve application effort.

Example Prompt

Try this with Claude using the Grants Finder tool
Use grants-finder to search for climate adaptation funding for a US-based research institute. Pull the full details for the top 4 programs and compare them side by side. Tell me which ones have the best fit for a mid-size research team, which deadlines are realistic, and which I should skip.

Tips

  • Pull opportunity details for at least 3 programs so the comparison is meaningful.
  • Ask Claude to flag eligibility blockers first before spending time on softer criteria like thematic fit.
  • Include your preferred funding range so Claude can filter out programs that are too small or too large.
