ChatGPT makes space data accessible and exciting by pairing NASA imagery and scientific statistics with rich narrative context that anyone can enjoy. It explains astronomical events in terms that connect abstract science to everyday wonder, suggests the significance of daily space imagery, and helps you create engaging educational or social media content from raw NASA data. Whether you are a science communicator, teacher, or simply someone who looks up at the stars, ChatGPT adds the storytelling layer that brings space data to life.

Once connected (see setup above), use the Space Data tool:

  1. Ask: "Get near-Earth object data for this week and recent planet imagery"
  2. ChatGPT returns NEO data and visual content
  3. Request: "Explain the significance of these objects and any potential risks"
  4. Get educational context about solar system dynamics

Example Prompt

Try this with ChatGPT using the Space Data tool
List all near-Earth objects for this week with their sizes and closest approach distances. Are any of these noteworthy?

Tips

  • ChatGPT provides excellent educational context for planetary data
  • Ask for comparisons to help understand scale -- object size vs familiar references
  • Great for generating science communication content about our solar system
