Domain Search

Copilot brings domain search directly into your project setup workflow, letting you find and evaluate available domains while scaffolding a new project. Check availability for names that work as both domains and CLI commands, search across developer-friendly TLDs like .dev and .io, and integrate domain selection into your project initialization process. Perfect for developers who want to secure the right name before writing the first line of code.

Connect ToolRouter to Copilot

1In your agent, go to Tools → Add a tool → New tool
2Choose Model Context Protocol and enter these details

Steps

Once connected (see setup above), use the Domain Search tool:

  1. In Copilot Chat: "Find domains using these keywords" and provide your terms
  2. Copilot searches and returns available options
  3. Ask: "Which of these would work best for a developer-facing product?"
  4. Register your chosen domain

Example Prompt

Try this with Copilot using the Domain Search tool
Search for available domains using keywords "api", "connect", and "hub". I need a domain for a developer platform.

Tips

  • Developer audiences respond well to short, technical-sounding domains
  • Copilot can search during project initialization to find a domain early
  • Combine keyword search with TLD-specific searches for best results
